Innovative businesses can learn about support and funding opportunities at two-day event

Businesses from across the South West can learn about all the funding and expert support available to them at the Innovate Local South West virtual event later this month.

Delegates will also be able to meet successful local businesses that have already benefited from support at the online event, which takes place on Wednesday and Thursday, March 24 and 25.

Innovators will be given all the tools they need to access funding and finance and find regional and national support for their businesses.

They will discover opportunities to partner and collaborate on R&D, and get the latest on all the innovation and developments to come for the region, at Innovate Local South West.

The first day of the virtual event, which is being delivered by KTN, The Knowledge Transfer Network, on behalf of UKRI and Innovate UK, will focus on support for companies working in cyber and tech innovation specifically, while day two will cover all sectors.

Both days will feature seminars, networking sessions designed to help businesses discover potential business partners and academic collaborators, and direct, fact-to-face contact with funding agencies including Innovate Edge, KTN and Growth Hub, all to help fast-track innovations.

Attendees will also meet and hear from highly successful local businesses that fast-tracked their plans and growth thanks to previous Innovate Local events. The businesses went on to receive full funding and support, generating jobs and prosperity much to the region’s economic benefit and include Synalogik, collaborators SurfaceRF and Bristol University, and the Toshiba Synergia consortia.

“We know there are loads of people and companies with great ideas in the South West; they want to emulate the success of businesses like Synalogik – but don’t know-how. Innovate Local is for them,” said Layla Burrows, South West regional manager at Innovate UK.

“This event is an opportunity for the real forward-thinking go-getters to come together and find out how they can work with each other, academia and funding agencies to fast-track their ideas, with the ultimate goal of stimulating the economy through their success.

“There are tonnes of opportunities and millions of pounds of support available so come and learn and make use of them.”
