Hills delivers road safety education for employees

Quarrying and waste management firm The Hills Group has partnered with Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) to deliver road safety education for their drivers.
Due to the pandemic, live presentations were halted, but the DWFRS Road Safety team delivered a bespoke online presentation including an introduction from The Hills Group CEO, Mike Hill.

DWFRS provided some ‘train the trainer’ sessions so The Hills Group could deliver the presentation to their staff which included behaviour change theory, and information and tools to help prevent death or injury on the road. An interactive workshop and resources were also designed to consolidate staff learning.

The Hills Group has delivered the show to many staff across 10 sessions throughout September, October, and November last year. The show received great feedback from staff, with comments noting that it was “hard hitting” and “really made them think about their own driving.”

DWFRS road safety manager, Christine Sharma said: “It’s both reassuring and rewarding to see partners such as The Hills Group putting road safety so high on their agenda. The health and safety of their staff and their local communities on the roads are a clear priority for them.

“We were delighted to work so closely with The Hills Group to help meet their objectives and in return, their funding will help us deliver free road safety education to new licence holders in schools this year. These public-private partnerships are key to the sustainability of our delivery.”

Mike Hill, The Hills Group CEO, said: “Road safety is of great importance to us at Hills, so we have made it our priority for not only our commercial vehicle drivers, but all staff across the business to attend these highly educational sessions.

“We are also delighted to support the delivery of road safety education in schools to help keep our local communities safe too.”
