Governor of Bank of England addresses meeting of Wiltshire business leaders

The governor of the Bank of England has met with members of business support organisation Inspire, to hear about the aspirations and concerns of Wiltshire businesses.

At a meeting in Bradford on Avon, Andrew Bailey listened to the concerns of business leaders representing a wide range of industry sectors regarding current trading conditions.

Businesses represented at the event included Corella Construction, Selwood Housing, A2Z Cloud Ltd, Golf Car UK Ltd, Aspire Commercial Finance, Direct Healthcare Solutions, Systemagic, Westbury Park Engineering, Shaw & Co, Wheelers, Begbies Traynor, Aqualeak Detection, All Med Pro, and Fundamentals Ltd.

Mandy Paterson, Inspire’s CEO, said: “The diverse group of businesses, made up of multiple sectors and sizes, collectively representing around £100 million turnover in Wiltshire, provided the governor with first-hand insights and feedback regarding current trading conditions, spanning both negative and positive challenges they are having to navigate in the year ahead.

“We would like to express our extreme thanks to the Governor of the Bank of England for making the time to visit in person and talk directly to a group of Wessex Chambers/Inspire businesses.”

Inspire holds regular meetings with Bank of England regional representatives, who feed the views of business leaders back to the bank’s influential Monetary Policy Committee. The next meeting is in July.
