Bright sparks to address Swindon Energy Forum
How will Swindon – and the UK economy in general – meet its energy needs in the next decade?
That’s the question being posed at the Swindon Chamber of Commerce energy forum, which takes place on Friday, April 8.
The forum will be addressed by three guest speakers:
James Owen, commercial director of Public Power Solutions will provide an understanding of the recent changes within the solar market, how the market works, and the work Public Power Solutions are doing to help the public sector deliver solar projects.
Bruce Davis, co-founder of Abundance Investment, will give an update on how Abundance Investment are working with Swindon Borough Council to finance 5MW of solar energy generation at Common Farm.
The investment is a first for the UK with local residents investing alongside the council via a regulated financial product.
And Paul Trimmer, former CEO at Shell Energy Europe, will highlight the energy forces acting upon Europe in general and the UK in particular to help the audience identify and understand the key challenges which we will face in securing the energy we need and the possible consequences in terms of the competitiveness of UK based businesses, before discussing how each of us can mitigate any negative impacts.
The event will be held at Swindon Marriott Hotel, Pipers Way, SN3 1SH from 10am until noon, and will be followed by a buffet lunch. Attendance costs £27.60 for members and £39.60 for non-members. For more information, or to book a place, log on to www.thamesvalleychamber.co.uk/event/45294
