Firm launches initiative to help women into tech, creative and marketing careers
An award-winning Bristol apprenticeship provider has launched a new initiative aimed at helping more young women access careers in technology, marketing and the creative industries.
Pro Apprenticeships, based in Bristol and rated Outstanding by Ofsted, has announced the launch of HerStart, a community programme designed to connect women leaving education with employers, mentors and career opportunities.
The initiative comes as women remain underrepresented across a number of sectors, including technology and creative industries, despite growing demand for skilled talent.
HerStart will officially launch at a free breakfast event at We The Curious in Bristol on Wednesday, July 2, bringing together employers, educators and aspiring professionals to discuss pathways into the workplace.
The event will feature a panel of current apprentices who are already building careers in IT, marketing and content creation, sharing their experiences and encouraging other young women to consider alternative routes into employment.
Carina Wills, founder of Pro Apprenticeships, said: “When I left school, nobody sat me down and explained the opportunities that were available to me. HerStart is about making sure young women can see the possibilities in front of them and have access to the support, connections and confidence they need to take that first step.
“We want to help more women discover careers in sectors where they are still underrepresented and show employers the value that diverse talent can bring to their organisations.”
Founded in 2016, Pro Apprenticeships has grown from a small South Bristol business into an Ofsted Outstanding training provider supporting apprentices and employers across the South West.
The HerStart programme will initially launch in Bristol, with ambitions to expand its reach in the future.
The launch event takes place from 8am to 10am on Wednesday 2 July at We The Curious, Bristol. Attendance is free.
