Generational communication expert sees international demand for workplace insights

Generational communication expert Alastair Greener says organisations across Europe are increasingly looking for practical ways to manage multigenerational workforces, following a series of speaking engagements in Morocco, France and the UK.

Alastair, of Generationally Speaking, recently delivered a keynote presentation at the BKR EMEA Annual Regional Conference in Marrakech, where he spoke to accounting and advisory firm leaders from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa about leading, retaining and engaging talent across generations.

The appearance followed another keynote presentation in Paris, delivered in French, before finishing off his June with further speaking engagements in Reading and Leeds.

According to Alastair, the growing interest reflects a challenge many organisations are facing as four generations now work side by side in many workplaces.

“Wherever I speak, whether that’s in the UK or overseas, I’m hearing many of the same concerns,” said Alastair. “Leaders want to understand how different generations communicate, what motivates them and how to create workplaces where people feel valued and want to stay.”

During his session in Marrakech, Alastair explored how generational experiences shape attitudes towards leadership, communication, technology and career development. He encouraged delegates to move beyond stereotypes and focus on understanding individuals.

“Too often we assume someone’s age tells us everything we need to know about them,” Alastair said. “In reality, good communication starts with curiosity. Once people understand each other better, relationships become stronger and teams become more effective.”

The keynote drew on themes from Alastair’s recently published book, Generationally Speaking: How to Bridge the Generation Gap and Communicate with Confidence, which explores how organisations can improve communication and collaboration across generations.

With demand for the topic continuing to grow, Alastair believes generational understanding will remain high on the agenda for employers.

“We’re living through a unique moment where multiple generations are working together, each shaped by different experiences and expectations,” he said. “Organisations that learn how to navigate that successfully will be in a much stronger position to attract, retain and develop talent.”

Alastair is a keynote speaker, author and President of the Professional Speaking Association UK & Ireland. He also hosts The Generationally Speaking Podcast, where he speaks with guests from different generations about communication, leadership and life experience.
