Wasdell Group wins planning permission for pharmaceutical packaging plant

Pharmaceutical packaging company Wasdell has won planning consent to almost double the size of its manufacturing facility at Groundwell in Swindon.

The firm – which played a major role during the pandemic – has owned the plant since 2016, where it creates packaging for some of the world’s biggest drugs and nutrition brands.

The expansion will see the facility grow by 40 per cent to 147,000 sq ft.

A spokesperson for the company said: “This expansion represents a significant investment in our infrastructure and will further enhance our capacity, capability, and service offering for existing and future clients.

The firm’s plans to build a £56 million facility on a 100-acre site between the A419 and the village of Wanborough were rejected by the council in 2021.
