Plush new office at Heywood House becomes available
An office within Heywood House near Westbury has come onto the market, and is set to appeal to small businesses looking to work in the splendour of the 17th century mansion and grounds.
The Ludlow office is considered one of the best rooms in the house. Located to the west of the mansion house on the ground floor with its own entrance, the Ludlow provides an impressive and spacious workspace with its own entrance.
The room, which offers 828 sq ft of space and seats up to six people, is packed with original features and affords views across the front lawn and quad garden.
The room is part of an 1837 extension to the original Jacobean house, built in 1603.
The owner Henry Gaisford Gibbs Ludlow commissioned young architect Harvey Eginton to carry out an extensive programme of refurbishment including the addition of extending the mansion to accommodate a chapel – now referred to as the Ludlow room.
These works are commemorated by a plaque with Eginton’s name and date in the elaborate front porch.
Over the years, the many owners of Heywood House have utilised the Ludlow room in various ways, from a private chapel to a games room for entertaining complete with a billiard table.
During the 1960s when the estate was a summer school for students from overseas, the room was turned into a gymnasium which led through to the swimming pool, situated in the conservatory at the time.
The Ludlow room now provides a large, open-plan office space. Situated next to the Conservatory café, The Ludlow has its own private access to the café along with its own kitchen facilities.
The room is available on a managed or serviced basis. Potential tenants are invited to view the office during an open event between noon and 2pm on Thursday, February 22. To arrange a visit, email landlord@heywoodhouse.com
