Victorian shopping arcade in trendy Clifton Village comes to market
A Victorian shopping arcade in trendy Clifton Village has come to the market, with a guide price of £4.6 million.
Clifton Arcade is smack in the middle of the upmarket shopping quarter, where a flat will cost you half a mill.
For your £4.6 million, you get 16 shop units and 17 studios, plus a front shop and cafe – currently occupied by Village Gifts and Primrose Café respectively – which face on to Boyces Avenue.
The ground floor units inside are occupied by independent traders selling everything from contemporary art and antiques to books and bridal gowns, skate wear and sustainable fashion.
The first and second floors are occupied by boutique studios, and a striking rose window commands the far end of the building.

According to Hartnell Taylor Cook, which is marketing the property, the arcade produces a total gross income of £488,000 per year.
The glass roofed, Grade II Listed arcade was built in 1878 by self-taught architect, entrepreneur and builder and originally known as Kings Clifton Bazaar and Winter Garden, taking inspiration from a row of Italianate shops on nearby Whiteladies Road.
The arcade was designed to be wide enough for carriages to drive into.
It to opened on April 7 1879 – and was an immediate flop. King went bankrupt and “King’s Folly” was on the market by July of the same year.
Thankfully it has fared better in recent years, having been fully restored by the current owners in 1998.
