Carter Jonas appointed as leasing agent on Emery Gate shopping centre
Property consultancy Carter Jonas has been appointed as the sole leasing agent on Emery Gate shopping centre in Chippenham, following Acorn Property Group’s acquisition of the centre in August this year.
Emery Gate is one of Wiltshire’s leading shopping locations, comprising approximately 90,000 sq ft of enclosed retail space with a 234 two-level car park in Chippenham.
Fronting the High Street, it benefits from several well-known, popular brands. Alongside Tesco, these include Bon Marche, Grape Tree, Holland & Barrett, Card Factory, Peacocks, Pavers, Sports Direct, Timpson, F Hinds and CEX on site, whilst Boots, Costa, Poundland, Greggs, WH Smith, Superdrug and Wilko are located nearby.
Whilst several retail opportunities are immediately available, providing between 211- 2,529 sq ft of ground floor space, Acorn plans to improve the centre adding new retail, dining and leisure facilities.
Each space benefits from a Class E planning consent, allowing premises to be used for retail, financial and professional services, cafés, restaurants, offices or medical, subject to the landlord’s consent.
Stuart Williams, partner, commercial, Carter Jonas, said: “We are extremely excited to be supporting Acorn Property Group in promoting opportunities at Emery Gate.
“The centre is very special to me – as a junior surveyor, I was part of the original leasing team as the centre opened in 1986, and I really appreciate its importance at the heart of the community.
“Shopping destinations such as Emery Gate are integral to local areas and benefitting from rising popularity, particularly in the current climate with more people choosing to use facilities locally.
“In addition to retail, restaurant and leisure, medical-type uses would be welcome, including doctors, dentists, and physios, as well as gyms, yoga and Pilates-type operators to create an attractive mix.
“This added appeal, alongside the landlord’s flexible approach, is helping to drive enquiries and attract interest from businesses looking to expand with additional outlets and those requiring space to start new local enterprises.
“We are already speaking with several interested parties and expect to add to the offering with exciting new occupiers shortly.”
