Bristol construction firm Sweet Projects named UK Growth Business of the Year

Bristol-based construction firm Sweet Projects has been named the UK Growth Business of the Year at the Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards.

The Filton-headquartered business won the Growth category ahead of twelve growing UK businesses from different sectors, with judges impressed with the company’s financial and workforce performance.

“To be successful and bring home an award like this is amazing,” said Andy Heyes, MD of Sweet Projects, which also has offices in Corsham and Slough.

“We’re so proud to represent the South West in these awards, and to see how far we’ve come in three short years is an outstanding credit to each and every person we work with.”

“It’s the culmination of hard work across the company, and this national recognition is great for the business, and just as great for our people – the most important part of our business.”

Sweet Projects received the award at The Lloyds British Business Excellence Awards ceremony evening, held at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London.

The Awards have become one of the UK’s largest and most admired awards programmes, celebrating the best of the best of British business.

Sarah Austin, director of the British Business Excellence Awards, said: “Sweet Projects is an incredibly high-performing business that has gone from zero to incredible numbers in such a short space of time.

“Not only have they had such incredible financial growth, they have built a workforce of more than 100 people and successful NPS scores to follow. They are incredibly worthy winners of the Growth Business of the Year Award.”

In the past year, Sweet Projects has grown from 60 employees to 110 people across multiple UK sites, and with turnover doubling from £62m to £130m.

Sweet Projects had to prove a robust plan of activity and processes to the British Business Excellence Awards judging panel, covering sustainable growth, development of people, and responsible business practices to deliver ongoing and future financial success and business impact.

“Following the nomination earlier this year, we’ve continued to grow,” said Andy,

“Our whole team has been bolstered with a newfound determination after being shortlisted, and to be announced as the number one growing company in the UK is a brilliant achievement.”

“To show such outstanding growth and retain the highest quality of business practices – from local recruitment, through our projects, to sustainability – is testament to the team’s hard work and dedication.”
