Swindon’s place at centre of renewable energy revolution to be celebrated

Swindon’s place at the centre of the renewable energy revolution will be celebrated at a meeting of Thames Valley Chamber of Commerce in November.

Networkers will hear from Michael Shirley, junior warden of the Worshipful Company of Fuellers, and from Claire Jackson, manager of Swindon & Oxford Hydrogen Hub, at the breakfast meeting on Friday, November 1.

Known as the ‘voice for energy’ in London, the Worshipful Company of Fuellers specialises in the energy industry, drawing its membership from a wide range of sectors including renewables.

The Swindon & Oxford Hydrogen Hub is a strong community of stakeholders from across the hydrogen and fuel cell supply chain, local authorities, businesses and current and potential users.

Technology for hydrogen-powered vehicles is designed and manufactured in Swindon, and the UK’s first hydrogen vehicle refuelling station opened in the town in 2011. And as part of the event, networkers will have the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a hydrogen-fuelled Hyundai Nexo supplied by motor dealer Pebley Beach.

The event takes place at Doubletree Hilton Swindon, Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon SN5 8UZ, starting at 7.30am. Attendance costs £24 for members and £36 for non-members.
