Bowood Hotel wins gold in South West Tourism Excellence Awards

The team at a luxury hotel Bowood are celebrating after being awarded gold at the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2023 – offering the best guest experience in the region.

Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, which sits at the heart of the 2,000-acre Bowood Estate, recently won gold in the Large Hotel of the Year category after 12 months of entry, judging and feedback accumulated in a glamorous awards ceremony at the Eden Project.

Jeff Condliffe, general manager at Bowood Hotel, said: “We’re thrilled to claim the top spot in the region for large hotel operators as the standard of competition we were up against was incredibly high.

“This is a great achievement for us and I’m incredibly proud of the Bowood team who work tirelessly to provide a memorable experience for every guest who comes through our doors, and this has now been recognised on a regional scale.”

The award congratulates Bowood on its commitment to providing and executing a memorable guest experience, whilst also demonstrating excellence across every aspect of the business, which includes its luxurious accommodation and unrivalled leisure facilities, with an award-winning spa and PGA Championship Golf Course.

Over 90 awards were presented at the ceremony, with all forms of hospitality businesses amongst the winners, with cafes, pubs, watersports schools and falconries all celebrating alongside attractions, camping and glamping sites, holiday parks, B&Bs, cottages and hotels.

The South West Tourism Awards are recognised for their rigour and independence of judging, with many winners progressing on to the national VisitEngland awards, in which the South West has been the top-performing region for over five years.
