Tech entrepreneur Kyle Holmes donates more than £1,000 to the RNLI I in memory of his friend lost at sea
Tech boss Kyle Holmes, of Black Nova Designs, has donated over £1,100 to the RNLI in Newquay, Cornwall.
The money was raised during his completion of the Three Peaks’ Challenge earlier this year.
Kyle (30) raised the money alongside his friend Danny Parsons in memory of his friend Anthony (Ant) Miller who lost his life in 2014.
It was the crew at Newquay which set out in the dark to find Ant when he got into difficulty in the sea. Ant was recovered and taken to hospital, where he died.
“The challenge of walking three peaks in three days was very, very demanding and I was so pleased to be doing it with Danny,” said Kyle.
“We were humbled by the support and were pleased to have exceeded our aim of raising £1,000! The donations will be used to support RNLI volunteers – even though we hope we never need them.”
Kyle and Danny conquered Ben Nevis, Scafel Pike and Mount Snowdon in the summer and were also supported by Danny’s employer David Horton Contractors.
The money raised will be used to train and equip the volunteer lifeboat crews and lifeguards who operate around the coast. Around 140 people die by accident in UK and Irish waters each year.
It costs approximately £160 million for the RNLI to run each year, with the majority of that funding (92 per cent) coming through public donations. These donations help to save 23 people every day in UK waters.
