ISO firm first to bring new AI certification to market
Wiltshire-based certification and quality management provider IMSM has become the first to bring the new ISO 42001 standard to market.
The certification is the new, internationally heralded global benchmark for businesses using AI.
The standard helps companies oversee their AI systems’ implementation, use, and upkeep by providing high-level principles adhering to best practices.
Tom Tuke-Hastings, chief revenue officer at Malmesbury-based IMSM – which was acquired in a £17.4 million deal last year – said: “I’m excited to announce our first-to-market consultancy and certification product, which will bring AI ISO certification to visionary AI-powered companies across the globe.
“AI is transforming the business landscape with half of all companies are already using AI in two or more ways – less than two years after the launch of ChatGPT.
“With the ever-increasing demand for new, rapidly developing AI capabilities and applications, there is a crucial need for people to understand and mitigate the often-unknown risks.
“The new AI management system, ISO 42001, is a global standard that helps companies get the highest possible return from their AI work in the safest, most efficient way.”
IMSM says ISO 42001 certification will demonstrate the commitment of a business to the privacy and security of its customers, and its ethical use of AI.
Research from McKinsey recently revealed that 65 per cent of respondents now regularly use generative AI within their organisation —nearly double the findings from previous years—driving home the importance of managing and overseeing AI.
