Hills Quarry Products starts new year with health and safety focus
Aggregates firm Hills Quarry Products delayed the opening of all its sites on the first working day of 2024 to allow employees to brush up on health and safety.
Safety briefings, which were held across its operational quarry and concrete sites, were held as part of the firm’s commitment to maintaining its excellent health and safety record.
As well as reviewing existing health and safety targets and accomplishments throughout the past year, the briefings also included setting new targets for 2023 based on employee and auditor feedback, with a renewed focus on Near Miss reporting and Traffic Management.
Olly Thompson, production manager at Hills Quarry Products, said: “The New Year is a good time to reflect on our accomplishments over the course of 2023 and the improvements we have made in health and safety. Our focus for 2024 is to continue to provide excellent health and safety across all of our sites.”
The safety briefings were held across operational sites in Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Hampshire, Dorset and Devon, where Hills operates sand and gravel quarries and ready-mixed concrete production plants.
