Newbury hotel and Bristol B&B named among UK’s best places to stay
A hotel in Newbury and a B&B in Bristol have been named among the British Isles’ best by the Good Hotel Guide 2024.
The Retreat at Elcot Park, Newbury, Berkshire was named Best Country Hotel.
The guide says the hotel “offers bedrooms with a modern English feel, a pool, a spa and an overall relaxed, fun air” at “fraction of the price of many traditional country-house hotels.”
“Yu, the pan-Asian restaurant,” notes the guide “is not to be missed”.
The hotel was one of just 12 in the UK to win up a coveted Césars award, inspired by Swiss hotelier César Ritz.
Meanwhile, Brooks Guesthouse in Bristol (pictured above) won the Editor’s Choice – Budget Friendly award for delivering “the fun factor with its rooftop airstreams on top of this centrally located B&B.”
The latest version of The Good Hotel Guide: Great Britain & Ireland features more than 700 hotels including 73 new entries.
