Ethical bank Triodos UK appoints new COO
Bristol-based ethical bank Triodos UK has appointed Mark Clayton as chief operating officer.
Mark will oversee customer operations and financial crime, large project implementation, facilities management, and ICT services.
His extensive experience in the banking sector will be instrumental in driving Triodos Bank’s mission and operations forward, said the company.
Mark previously served as COO at Unity Trust Bank, another member of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values.
Prior to that, he had a 23-year career at HSBC, where he held various senior roles and led large teams within the retail banking division.
Notably, he was head of premier distribution, where he spearheaded the strategic growth of the Retail Premier and international business.
Mark also holds a degree in financial services in association with the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
Mark said, “Having transitioned away from the mainstream banking sector a few years ago, I’ve found fulfilment in roles where values steer decision-making. I look forward to leveraging Triodos’ influential platform to drive meaningful change through sustainable banking practices.”
CEO Bevis Watts said: “Mark has shown a great understanding of this business, our customers and the opportunities for growth. We feel he is a great fit and the right person to shape the future of operations at Triodos Bank UK.
“We have big ambitions for our organisation, and I’m confident that Mark’s knowledge will be instrumental for our success in the rapidly changing banking landscape.”
Since 2015, Triodos Bank has been certified as a B Corporation, most recently recertifying in the top five per cent of scores with 131.
In May the bank was named Best Ethical Financial Provider at the British Bank Awards for the third consecutive year.
