Bristol Junior Chamber elects new president and top team
Bristol’s longest running networking society for young professionals is looking towards a year of ‘Bristol through time’ following the unveiling of its new leadership team.
The Bristol Junior Chamber, the city’s pre-eminent organisation for young professionals, elected its new council of management during its AGM on Tuesday 7 April, held at the Society of Merchant Venturers.
Following a year as vice president, Jyles Allen, a financial adviser from Quilter, formally took on the leadership of the BJC for the coming year, outlining his plans under the central theme of ‘Bristol through time’.
In his speech welcoming the new council, Jyles spoke about his forward-looking vision rooted in the Chamber’s long-standing commitment to developing young leaders and contributing to the city’s civic and professional life.
His year will focus on celebrating Bristol’s rich heritage, harnessing the energy and talent that defines the city today, and preparing members to play an active role in shaping its future.
By strengthening connections between past and present members, creating meaningful opportunities for leadership development, and deepening the Chamber’s impact across Bristol, he aims to ensure the organisation continues to play a vital role in the city’s ongoing story.
This continues the work over the past year under now-immediate past president, Connor Jones, which has seen the BJC deliver on its promise of providing members with more opportunities to innovate and collaborate.
“It has been a real privilege to lead this organisation for the last year, witnessing our membership grow, whilst continuing to facilitate a wide variety of events and initiatives for the benefit of our members,” said Connor.
“I look forward to seeing the incoming president carry this forward and continue to make the Bristol Junior Chamber the leader for young working professionals in our city.”
Jyles said: “As a Bristol boy, it’s both a privilege and a responsibility to become president of this organisation.
“I’m proud to have the opportunity to make an impact not just for our members, but across the city and wider region.
“I’d like to thank the outgoing council for putting us in such a strong position – this new council of management is starting from a great place, and this year we will go from strength to strength.”
