The directors of software developer and IT services provider SCISYS Group are to step down now that a £78.9m takeover deal by Canada-headquartered IT giant CGI has completed.
The deal to acquire SCISYS, which has a base in Chippenham, was announced back in June.
Best known for its work in the space sector, with clients including the European Space Agency, SCISYS also operates in the media, government, defence, and commerce sectors, where its customers include the Environment Agency, the Ministry of Defence, Airbus Defence & Space, Vodafone, the BBC, RNLI, Siemens, and the National Trust.
Mike Love, chairman of SCISYS, said: “This marks the end of a 40-year epoch during which SCISYS traded as an independent company.
“Its growth and success over this period has been entirely due to the collective efforts of many individuals. It has been an honour and pleasure to work alongside so many talented individuals during this period.
“I and all my board colleagues wish to thank each and every one, past and present, in the SCISYS team for their many contributions. We wish the current team and CGI every success going forward.”
CGI said the acquisition would add “more than 670 highly skilled professionals” to its ranks.
Based mainly in the UK, SCISYS is headquartered in Dublin and has bases in Germany.
