Life sciences specialist acquired by American firm
A Salisbury company specialising in freeze-drying pharmaceutical products has been acquired by an American life sciences company.
Established in 2011 and based at Porton Science Park life science cluster, Fluorogenics Ltd specialises in the design and development of lyophilisation processes – freeze-drying perishable materials for the research, veterinary, defence, and clinical sectors.
It will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of New England Biolabs, a world leader in the research and development of enzymes for genomic research.
Jim Ellard, CEO of New England Biolabs, said: “The acquisition of FGL enables NEB to combine our expertise in enzyme manufacturing and assay development with their expertise in lyophilisation, providing a complete solution for our customers.
“It also further solidifies our ability to service customers in the molecular diagnostics space.”
Martin Lee, co-founder CEO of Fluorogenics Ltd, said: “We are delighted to become part of an organisation with which we share ideals, innovation and technical excellence, a passion to make a difference through the delivery of scientific solutions that create value for our customers, and reduce the burden on our planet.”
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
