Podcast about the ‘dark arts’ of PR reaches 1,000 downloads

More than 1,000 people have downloaded a new podcast hosted by Swindon journalist and media consultant Fiona Scott to dispel the myths and mysteries around the dark arts of PR.

Her PR Not BS podcast went live in December last year and features advice and tips to business owners, charities, social enterprises, company directors as well as public service organisations and other PR professionals.

Fiona, who runs Scott Media, based in Cheney Manor, Swindon has been working in partnership with community radio station Swindon 105.5 to create each episode.

“I’m thrilled so many people have engaged with the podcast at such an early stage and I’d like to thank all of my guests who have taken part to date and also Swindon 105.5 for their amazing support,” Fiona said.

“The average podcast download is 141 in 30 days so it’s thrilling to know that I’m above the average! I’m so pleased that people are finding it of interest. To date I’ve had messages that people listen to it in their cars, while walking their dogs or even climbing a mountain in one case!”

To date, Fiona’s top podcasts are:

• PR Highs & Lows with magazine editor Anita Jaynes.

Her latest episode is Exploit Your Personal Business Story with business journalist Dan Martin.

The podcast features interviews with business owners, journalists and influencers. Fiona publishes two episodes a month and records at the studios of Swindon 105.5 in Liden.

Episodes share stories and personal experiences of business, life, public relations and publicity. Around 37 per cent of downloads have come via Apple Podcasts.

“I’ve got some amazing episodes to come as I talk to more interesting people from a whole range of businesses and from a range of media professionals.

“I firmly believe many people learn from the experiences of others so I’m planning to continue this podcast into 2023,” Fiona said.
