Former national journalist targets South West SMEs with new PR agency
A PR agency that will focus on providing media support for up-and-coming companies businesses has been launched in Bristol.
On The Up PR has been set up by former Daily Telegraph journalist Rob Stewart and is aimed at SMEs across the South West business community.
In what is being billed as a ‘journalism-led’ agency, it is hoped that a combination of traditional media skills and PR expertise will help local businesses go from strength to strength.
“The South West is a real hotbed of entrepreneurial activity and that has inspired me to launch On The Up PR,” Rob said.
“I know from experience that there are lots of amazing stories waiting to be told by the business leaders who are driving forward the region’s start-ups, scale-ups and more established companies.
“And that’s why I’m really looking forward to working with those firms which are committed to using media activity as a vehicle for growth – sometimes for the first time.
“Collaboration will be key and my role will be simple – to identity and develop content which will help SMEs accelerate growth but also to work closely with journalists as they have their own jobs to do as well.”
As well Rob’s experience as a regional newspaper reporter and football journalist with leading national titles, On the Up PR will also build on his decade in charity communications with the Alzheimer’s Society and five years with local PR agencies.
“I will always be proud to be a journalist at heart and my newsroom experience has already proved to be invaluable when it comes to commercial PR,” added Rob, who is based in the Westbury Park area of Bristol.
“I’ve been on a steep learning curve since moving away from full-time journalism but I count myself lucky to have worked for some brilliant PR people in the South West and I’ve worked hard to achieve amazing results for clients.
“That success is down to the combination of my core journalistic skills and commercial PR know-how which means I’m now ideally positioned to help companies of all shapes and sizes share their stories in a way that truly has meaningful impact.
“While I recognise things have changed a lot since I first started out in journalism back in Yorkshire, these are incredibly exciting times as the media landscape changes at a rapid pace but some things never lose their value and one of those is the art of story-telling.”
Rob has hit the ground-running and current clients include Enable Law, the leading South West-based medical negligence, personal injury and mental capacity law firm and Bristol-based Burleigh Create design agency while he also helped launch a new pickleball enterprise in Surrey.
Previous clients while working for other agencies include included Taunton-headquartered accountancy practice Albert Goodman’s, med-tech start-up firm IQ Endoscopes, electrical engineers Campbell West, construction business Paramount and fintech firm Coadjute.
