Eco-boiler innovator teams up with Wiltshire College

The Chippenham-based company behind a zero-emission, battery-enabled boiler has announced a new partnership with Wiltshire College to deliver hands-on training for installers at its Lackham campus.

Luthmore was founded in 2022 by Dyson alumni Craig Wilkinson and Martin Gutkowski. Luthmore’s pioneering technology offers the zero-emissions alternative to the gas combi boiler for the small to medium-sized home.

Now, in response to growing consumer demand for its flagship product Luthmore One, the initiative will expand Luthmore’s installer training capacity via a dedicated presence within the college’s Green Skills Innovation Centre, alongside practical learning in the Eco House, a full-scale property fitted with low carbon technologies.

The Green Skills Innovation Centre was established to help meet increasing demand for sustainable construction and low-carbon technology skills, providing learners and industry professionals with access to specialist training facilities and real-world learning environments.

The programme is designed to address the growing demand for skilled installers, with the first week’s cohort already fully subscribed.

Six to seven training places were made available, all of which were quickly filled, underlining strong demand from installers across the region, and beyond, to upskill on new systems.

Initially, the training will focus on supporting qualified installers, providing small group sessions that allow individuals to gain hands-on experience in installation, commissioning and fault finding in a real-world scenario.

In the longer term, the partnership opens the door to deeper integration into college courses, helping to inspire future entrants into the sector.

The collaboration has been supported by local MP Sarah Gibson, who helped bring Luthmore and Wiltshire College & University Centre together to create the training initiative.

Speaking on the announcement, Luthmore CEO, Herve Dehareng, said: “Demand for skilled installers is growing rapidly as the market evolves. Through this partnership, we are equipping installers with the expertise they need to work with new technologies, while also creating opportunities for them to grow their businesses and access new work.”

Luthmore is part of a growing cluster of South West innovators emerging from the region’s engineering and manufacturing heritage, and is investing in training to ensure installers are equipped to meet evolving customer needs.

As the training centre develops, the partnership will continue to explore ways to expand access, supporting both experienced installers and future talent entering the industry.
