Five Wiltshire communities are losing their only bank
Five Wiltshire communities are losing their only high street bank after Lloyds earmarked them for closure.
Branches at Corsham, Highworth, Mere, Pewsey, and Tidworth named in a list of 54 earmarked for closure by the banking giant on Wednesday.
Lloyds banking group will also close 22 Halifax branches and 24 Bank of Scotland branches.
In a statement, the bank said: “As a result of the way customers are choosing to use our branches, sometimes it is necessary to close, relocate or even open new branches.
“We offer a number of different ways to bank with us and even with these closures, 90 percent of Lloyds Bank customers will still have a usable branch within five miles of their home.”
No timetable has been set for the closures.
Meanwhile, HSBC has confirmed when its Marlborough branch will close – at 3pm on Friday, May 5. The closure was announced in January.
