Historic cities including Bath and Salisbury join forces to attract American visitors

Thirteen historic cities in England have joined forces to attract visitors from the USA.

The cities are launching their new Travel Trade Guide to over 50 North American buyers at VisitBritain’s forthcoming Destination Britain North America event taking place in San Francisco from September 7 to 10.

England’s Historic Cities includes Bath, Cambridge, Canterbury, Carlisle, Chester, Durham, Greenwich, Lancaster, Lincoln, Oxford, Salisbury, Stratford-upon-Avon, and York.

The new England’s Historic Cities Travel Trade Guide includes a selection of attractions, experiences, tour guiding companies and accommodation providers for each city.

Melanie Sensicle, England’s Heritage Cities Chairperson said “This new guide gives the international travel trade a fantastic introduction to the very best of England’s Heritage Cities.

“It is an invaluable resource for intermediaries crafting bespoke itineraries for their clients who are wishing to explore the amazing things to do in England’s Historic Cities for 2024 and beyond.”

The Destination Britain North America event being held in San Fransisco is one of a number of in-market meeting events VisitBritain delivers, offering UK international trade ready businesses and destinations the unique opportunity to meet hand-picked top buyers from this extremely valuable market as well as attend seminars and workshops.

Carl Walsh, VisitBritain’s director travel trade North America said ““This event provides a great opportunity for tourism businesses and destinations to gain exposure directly into the North American market.

“It is designed to enhance existing relationships and to learn about the market directly from our in-market trade team and take home a whole list of direct contacts to unlock all the potential opportunities for working with the travel trade.”
