Growth Hub seminar looks to the end of furlough
With the government’s furlough scheme due to close at the end of September, a webinar from Swindon & Wiltshire LEP’s Growth Hub aims to set out what the change will mean for businesses and their employees locally.
The furlough scheme was announced by the government at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in March 2020. Businesses were able to keep employees on even if they were not trading, with the government paying 80 percent of wages up to £2,500.
Envisaged as a short-term subsidy, furlough has been extended four times, with employee contributions increasing.
The government says 11.6 million workers have been covered by the furlough scheme since the start of the pandemic. There are currently reckoned to be over two million workers on furlough at the moment.
Led by HR expert Kathryn Roynon, the webinar will outline how to:
- Manage the changes and planning needed now
- Consider the options available for you and your team
- Maximise opportunities
- Minimise redundancies
- Manage the ‘new normal’
- Plan for the future
Business owners will be able to ask questions or raise concerns – either as part of the forum or privately.
The webinar, which is free to attend, will be held from 10am until 11am on Wednesday, August 25.
