Goughs staff who ran the Corsham 10k raised £1,500 for Wiltshire Airm Ambulance

Goughs solicitors go the extra mile (or six) for Air Ambulance

Staff from law firm Goughs kept their feet on the ground in a bid to keep Wiltshire’s Air Ambulance in the skies.

More than 20 members of staff took part in the Corsham 10k road race on Sunday, raising £1,500 for the charity. It was the first time the firm had fielded a team.

Solicitor Phil Bolton, who helped organise the Goughs contingent for the race, said: “It was really encouraging to see such a great response by my fellow runners at Goughs.

“We are all aware of the life saving work that the Wiltshire Air Ambulance undertakes day and night and are proud to announce that they are our charity partner of the year”.

The Air Ambulance is a unique charity whose sole aim is to save the lives of people living, working and travelling in Wiltshire. From January 2015, it will cost £2.5m a year to keep the air ambulance operational.

For over 20 years, the air ambulance has been involved in more than 18,000 missions involving medical emergencies and accidents, ranging from serious sports injuries to multiple vehicle collisions.

The charity does not receive government funding and relies entirely on the generous support of the local community and businesses to keep the life-saving helicopter and its crew flying.

Martin Lang, senior partner in the firm’s Corsham office said: “What a fantastic race. It was great to see so many people running and raising money for so many good causes.

“The £1,500 we have raised for Wiltshire Air Ambulance today is just the tip of the iceberg.

“We are participating in a number of events throughout this year in an effort to raise thousands of pounds for this extremely worthwhile charity”.

Goughs’ runners were supported through their training regime by staff at Springfield Leisure Centre in Corsham.
