Financial planning firm achieves prestigious mark of quality

Proposito Financial Planning has attained a British Standard mark of quality and joins an elite group of firms in the UK to do so.

The Malmesbury company underwent a rigorous process to achieve BS8577, the only British Standard for financial advice and planning firms. The award comes just weeks after the business was granted prestigious chartered financial planner status by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Proposito Financial Planning specialises in providing bespoke financial planning services to individuals and businesses. This latest achievement makes a hat-trick for the company, which moves into 2015 with the British Standard award, chartered financial planning status, and individual chartered status for its director Huw Jones, which he attained in April 2013.

“This BS8577 process has been hugely beneficial to the way Proposito is run,” said Huw. “As a result of the pre-assessment work, we have fundamentally overhauled the leadership and operational structure of the firm. This has been a significant project that has taken nearly ten months to achieve and we’re naturally all delighted, not least because we are only the 15th firm in the UK to have been awarded this British Standard.”

Launched in 2012, BS8577 assesses whether a firm can consistently deliver a first class service to its clients. A professional benchmark, to achieve it firms must comply with a framework for their operational management, and employ best practice and processes.

Huw added: “The changes we have made enable us to deliver a consistent service to each and every one of our clients, and this quality and consistency of service is externally verified.

“And as well as benefitting our clients, we are a better-run business, so we’ve reduced our business risk and gained additional credibility with the Financial Conduct Authority.”
