Campaign launched to bring Paddington to Bristol
He’s been to Reading, Newbury and Salisbury, but so far the nation’s favourite bear (his books are outselling Winnie-the-Pooh, fact fans) has eschewed Bristol.
But that might be about to change. Bristol’s tourism body, Visit Bristol, has launched a campaign to get Paddington to visit the city.
The Paddington Visits trail was launched by film-maker StudioCanal in October to promote the new movie Paddington in Peru.
Twenty three bench-mounted sculptures of Paddington munching on his trademark marmalade sandwich were unveiled across the country.
Initially, things looked hopeful for Bristol as the trail made its way west – London Paddington Station, Reading, Newbury… oh, Cardiff.
Now organisers have revealed there’s one more bear that needs to be looked after, and Bristol is throwing its red fedora into the ring.
Fans can join the campaign by writing a short message – of no more than 100 words – in support of the twenty fourth Paddington coming to Bristol.
Submissions should be sent to info2@studiocanal2.com before midnight on Sunday, January 5.
