Marlborough LitFest confirms lineup for 15th anniversary event

Marlborough LitFest has confirmed its lineup and a host of other events as it celebrates its 15th anniversary.

Heading to the Wiltshire market town in September are fiction and non-fiction authors including LitFest patron Sir Simon Russell Beale, 2024 Golding Speaker Linda Grant, author and actor Celia Imrie, royal historian and biographer Robert Hardman, novelist Kate Mosse, historian and broadcaster William Dalrymple, broadcaster and journalist Zeinab Badawi, economics reporter and novelist Robert Peston, novelist Sarah Perry, author and journalist Martin Sixsmith, broadcaster Jonathan Dimbleby, equestrian crime novelist Felix Francis, and children’s author and illustrator duo Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre.

Meanwhile, The Big Town Read will see book lovers reading the same book ahead of a Q&A with the author. This year’s tome is The Secret Life of John le Carré by Adam Sisman.

And a full programme for young readers will see author and humourist Andy Seed talking to Year 5 and 6 pupils in the Marlborough area about his Ancient Greek puzzle book, Going for Gold, while bestselling author Jenny Pearson will be bringing Shipwrecked to Year 5 and 6 pupils in the Calne and Pewsey Vale areas.

Festival chair Genevieve Clarke said: “This feels like a bumper year for our 15th anniversary with a rich mix of interesting topics in addition to plenty of well-known names.

“We’re extremely grateful to all our supporters for enabling us to bring this line-up to Marlborough as well as helping us to provide lots of free reading activities for children and families across the community.”
