Entrepreneur lands planning permission for ‘world’s coolest office’ in a jet

Entrepreneur Johnny Palmer has landed planning permission to park a second airliner next to an existing one in Bristol.

In 2021 the first Boeing 727 – purportedly owned by drugs baron Pablo Escobar – opened as “the world’s coolest Airbnb” at Skyline Park industrial estate in Brislington.

Now Bristol City Council has given permission for a second Boeing fuselage to taxi to the same site, where it will be transformed into “world’s coolest office.”

He claimed Ground Force will be Bristol’s “second most iconic structure,” insisting people will associate the city with the plane just after the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

“Ground Force is an epic mixed use development incorporating a cafe, co-working space, office, wellness facility, first class lounge and a Boeing 727 private jet for events, film and private hire,” said Mr Palmer today.

“We will also incorporate the Aether Sauna Sky Sauna, which will be a community sauna with incredible city skyline views – this will be highest sauna in the south west.”

He added: “People are often critical of UK planning policy. While the process was lengthy I am delighted that the excellent people at Bristol City Council can see a vision beyond what anyone has done before in the city.

“This is a continuation of my first foray into aviation-based property development which will allow us to implement all the lessons learnt from the first one and also push the boundaries of what can be done with containers.

“This project will be epic and push the needle on what is possible on industrial estates. I also hope it will inspire young engineers and entrepreneurs globally as to how they can enhance their communities and build fun sustainable businesses.”
