Georgian guest house set for new chapter in its history

A Georgian guest house in Amesbury that has been a sumptuous family home, a doctor’s surgery, an auction house and even a ladies’ finishing school is set for a new chapter in its history.

Fairlawn House, which is Grade II listed and has numerous original features, has been brought to the market by Colliers International for offers in the region of £1.45 million.

The refurbished property is located on the High Street, and has 18 en suite letting rooms generating net accommodation sales in excess of £300,000 per annum.

However, the business – which is within a few miles of Stonehenge – offers plenty of potential for further growth, according to Ed Jefferson of Colliers International.

He said: “This is an impressive Grade II listed building in a High Street location, built in 1838 for a local surgeon. Three of the letting rooms are located in a converted coach house to the rear.
