Beard Construction chosen to lead Marlborough and Warminster Leisure Centre renovations

Swindon-headquartered building firm Beard Construction has been awarded a Wiltshire Council contract to renovate Marlborough Leisure Centre and Warminster Sports Centre.

The renovations are part of a £10 million investment in the county’s leisure facilities – improvements have been made at Lime Kiln Leisure Centre in Royal Wootton Bassett, The Olympiad in Chippenham, and Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre in Salisbury with improvements at Devizes Leisure Centre also nearing completion, with a revitalised gym and dance studio available to members.

Beard designs, builds, restores and refurbishes buildings in Southern England, and is currently leading on the Trowbridge Town Hall refurbishments.

The work being undertaken at Marlborough’s 1980s leisure centre includes improvements to the fitness and wet change facilities. The pool and gym will be temporarily closed in early November.

In Warminster, Beard will be renovating the fitness suite and exercise studio, and converting the old fitness space into a community space.

Meanwhile, the council is planning to build a new £25 million leisure centre in Trowbridge.

If approved, Trowbridge’s new leisure centre (pictured) will have facilities including a six-lane 25m swimming pool, a smaller learner pool, a gym with 120 exercise stations, immersive spin studio, an Adventure Play space for 12 to 16 year olds, and café.

A public consultation on the plans ends on Friday, October 11.
