Broadband provider Truespeed expands reach in its home city of Bath

Independent broadband provider Truespeed has invested an additional £6 million in its home city of Bath, to significantly expand full-fibre provision across the city, taking its total investment in its Bath rollout to £11 million.

With its head office, and customer service centre based on Bristol Road, and its bright pink logo, the company has quickly become a recognised brand in the city. Truespeed employs more than 250 local people, and already offers ultra-fast broadband to more than 60,000 households.

Now, with the additional investment in its infrastructure, Truespeed will be available to 21,000 properties in its Bath-focused rollout including, Batheaston, Bathampton and Bathford alongside notable landmarks such as Pulteney Road and Henrietta Park.

CEO James Lowther said: “Since we started eight years ago, we’ve been bringing ultrafast broadband to rural, semi urban and suburban areas across the South West. To now expand our coverage in our home city of Bath marks a key milestone for the company.

“With our headquarters and team based here, investing in our own streets to support the city with the benefits of full fibre is a true privilege. We’re also proud to be increasing employment, supporting economic growth and enabling innovation across the city.”

With more and more people working from home, streaming content, and turning to online entertainment, the need for seamless broadband provision has never been greater, says the firm.

In 2020, the average UK home was found to have 10.3 broadband-enabled devices that are intrinsic to the smooth running of our day-to-day lives from remotely operated thermostats, security cameras, smart meters to our TVs, mobile phones, tablets, and gaming consoles.

However, with the average speed of home broadband at less than 60 Mbps, many struggle with connections that continually lag and poor broadband speeds across their home.

Over the coming weeks and months, Truespeed will be working closely with Bath and North East Somerset Council and the community to keep residents update regarding any potential temporary roadworks or cabling as Truespeed engineers connect streets and homes to the full fibre network.
