Bath-based lifestyle brand Graham & Green secures expansion funding from Barclays
Bath-headquartered independent retailer Graham & Green has secured a multi-million pound funding package from Barclays to expand its operations.
The lifestyle and homeware company has used the finance to purchase a new 100,000 sq. ft. freehold property at Canal Road Industrial Estate, Trowbridge.
The firm plans to create additional storage to fulfil an increase in customer demand for both its in-store and online offering.
Founded in 1974 by Antonia Graham, Graham & Green opened its first store in Notting Hill, London, showcasing Antonia’s love of furniture and homeware imported from India, Morocco and Europe.
Since then the family-run business has become synonymous with eclectic furniture, hand-picked homeware and unique gifts sourced from across the globe.
To date, the retailer has opened five stores, including Walcot Street, Bath, alongside attracting a growing and loyal online customer base.
Darren Murphy, director of finance and company operations at Graham & Green, said: “Barclays had always been in contact ever since our headquarters moved down to Bath from London in 2016.
“I had met Martin a couple of times where he showed great interest in the business. When looking to finance the purchase of the new warehouse Barclays were not only the bank that offered the best deal but also gave me reassurance that we would meet what was a very strict deadline by the vendor with the constant contact and communication that Martin provided.
“The new warehouse will give us that additional space to continue to grow our emporium of treasures.”
Martin Crook, Barclays relationship director, Bath, added: “Graham & Green has achieved significant success and has built a great reputation with consumers.
“I’m pleased that we can support the firm’s strategic plans and provide the facilities for the next chapter of their business growth.
“Barclays is committed to using our industry expertise to support such propositions, which are vital to the local economy and I wish them every success in the future.”
The company currently operates from its head office in Bath, employs more than 100 staff with an annual multi-million pound turnover, set to rise in the future.
