Say cheese – cheddar producer’s web portal is up for major award

A web portal produced for the world’s oldest cheddar cheesemaker by a Devizes design agency is up for a major award.

Resolution Design built the new portal for Shepton Mallet-based Barbers, who wanted to create a trusted system that allows 24/7 communication both to and from the 150 individual dairy farms that supply them with 200 million litres of milk.

They also required a system that would be able to supply their customers with accurate, up to date information about their farm suppliers and product for quality assurance and traceability.

Now the portal has been shortlisted in the the Wirehive 100 Awards, an annual event that celebrates the outstanding creative and technical talent of Digital Agencies in the South.

Competing in the Digital Transformation category, the resolution team will find out if they have been successful at the O2 Guildhall in Southampton on Thursday, October 11.

Richard Jaggs, managing director of Resolution Design, said: “We’ve been creating great web applications like this supplier portal for years, including CRM systems, business admin systems, quote systems and content management systems.

“We initially worked with Barbers to create a brief for the project, identifying the main functionalities of the system. Upon completion of the brief, we visualised the portal, keeping a clear, simple interface before moving on to build the system using our in-house development team.

“Once the portal was complete, our team worked with Barbers to migrate all existing supplier information, officially launching the system in early summer 2018.

“Barbers new supplier portal has transformed the way they communicate with their milk suppliers. The portal has been very well received, with all suppliers using the system and keeping the information up to date, submitting forecasts and benefitting from the resources and news.”
