A419 touted as ‘The Road of Opportunity’

The A419 was being touted as The Road of Opportunity, as distribution and logistics firms were urged to consider Swindon as a regional or national base at a major trade show last week.

Forward Swindon – the company established by Swindon Borough Council to promote economic growth – was at the Commercial Vehicle Show at Birmingham’s NEC to demonstrate how the east-to-west M4 corridor and north-to-south A419 makes Swindon an obvious base for businesses looking to transport goods around the UK.

CEO Ian Piper and director of investment Phil Young collaborated with Swindon-based companies including MAN Trucks, BMW, Yuasa Batteries, and MixTelematics for the event, which ran from April 29 to May 1.

“Allied with its skills base and available workforce, the town provides a compelling proposition for companies wishing to consider new distribution locations. Brands with large distribution sites already in the town include, B&Q, WHSmith, Aldi, Iceland and Wincanton”.
