Trade counters prove a draw for local businesses at Horizon38
The unprecedented demand for high quality industrial and logistics space in Greater Bristol has resulted in a huge response to the speculative trade counter units at the region’s acclaimed Horizon38 regeneration development in Filton, which are all now occupied or under offer.
Horizon38 is being developed by MSF Filton, in a joint venture between St Francis Group and Isec, funded by Ropemaker, and is situated on the site of the former Rolls Royce East Works.
With a flurry of deals just completing, the latest occupiers to recognise the benefits of trade counter space at Horizon38 are London Stone, who have taken a 4,200 sq ft unit, and SGS College, who have taken two units totalling 9,201 sq ft.
London Stone will be opening its first showroom in the South West at Horizon38, displaying its comprehensive and market leading range of natural stone products, for landscape contractors, contractors, garden designers, property developers, architects and homeowners.
SGS College will be putting their space to slightly different use. The not-for profit FE College needs additional practical teaching space due to expansion in the numbers of young people obtaining construction apprenticeships. The space will be used to teach trainees and apprentices in bricklaying, plastering, painting and decorating and tiling.
Pete Barrett, group property manager at SGS, said: “It is vital for the economic recovery of the region that we are able to support our construction employers with the skilled workforce of tomorrow and the Horizon38 facility will provide a superb practical teaching area to train our apprentices.”
James Short, senior surveyor at Avison Young, who are joint letting agents at Horizon38 with JLL says, “With the last remaining trade counter unit under offer, we are delighted with the incredible response to the units within the Horizon38 community, demonstrating that occupiers respond positively to well located, quality units that help their businesses grow.
“To have two of the units being used to train our future skilled workforce with SGS College is a fitting completion for the trade counter terraces.
“The first business to open a trade counter here was CityPlumbing, since joined by firms including CareCo and RS Components who have all recognised the advantages of having a prominent location, easy access and allocated parking for their customers.”
Horizon38 continues to attract high quality occupiers across the development. The trade counter terrace is situated adjacent to Car Shop, Volvo, GKN R&D facility, and Selco Builders Warehouse.
