The Waterhouse hotel at Monkton Combe sold by Savills for £2.75 million
Boutique hotel The Waterhouse at Monkton Combe, near Bath, has been sold for £2.75 million in a deal brokered by commercial property agent Savills.
The hotel was sold to a private individual on behalf of The Wilsher Pension Trust.
The 18th-century country house comprises hotel accommodation with 13 en-suite bedrooms and 10 serviced offices, on a landscaped plot spanning 3.22 acres. The Matron’s Cottage provides development opportunity for a range of alternative uses.
The property offers beautiful countryside views and provides a tranquil getaway for guests, being located in the Midford Valley. The picturesque village Monkton Combe is nearby and only three miles from the Bath city centre.
James Greenslade, director in the hotel capital markets team at Savills Exeter, said: “We are delighted to complete the sale of The Waterhouse.
“We received significant interest from a range of investors attracted by the many original features of the building and picturesque location, on both an existing use and alternative use basis.”
Luke Brady, director in the residential team at Savills Bath, added: “It has been a privilege to have been involved with the sale of Waterhouse a decade on from the last time that we acted in the sale.
“The Wilsher group are long standing clients and transformed Waterhouse into a superb mixed residential and commercial facility. This iconic building sits in the heart of one of Bath’s most sought after rural locations.”
