Harry calls on young entrepreneurs to enter business awards
Award-winning young entrepreneur Harry Deeming is urging his peers to get their entries into this year’s Enterprising Wiltshire Awards before the deadline expires at the end of January.
Harry, who won Young Entrepreneur at last year’s awards, said:
“Winning the 2014 Young Entrepreneur of the Year award was a huge boost for me and my business plans. Applying also helped me fine tune my business ideas and really focus on my USP. I would encourage any young person in Wiltshire with strong business acumen to enter the forthcoming Enterprising Wiltshire Awards.
“Time is running out for you to seize this opportunity, so act now. If you are unsure about completing the application form, business managers from the Wiltshire Business Support Service are happy to help.”
16-year-old Harry from Chippenham launched his website VisaPhotoIndia.co.uk, which offers a fast, reliable Indian visa photograph formatting service.
The deadline for entries is 31 January. Entry is by completing a straight-forward online form available at www.wessexchambers.org.uk or by phoning 01225 402096.
Applicants to date include:
- An award-winning cheese-maker.
- The UK’s leading distributor of stringed instruments.
- A company that sells and hires both new and refurbished forklift trucks.
- A new venture which has launched an online gluten-free centre.
Entries can be made in any of seven categories: small business, exporter, young entrepreneur, manufacturer, start-up, best product or service, and green business. In addition, one of the seven finalists will be named The Enterprising Wiltshire Awards Business of the Year.
Winners of the seven categories will each receive a cash prize of £1,500 provided by Wiltshire Council. The Business of the Year will receive an additional £500, bringing its total prize to £2,000, but most importantly a comprehensive package of business support, advice and networking opportunities provided by the team at the Wiltshire Business Support Service.
New categories for 2015 are Green Business of the Year and Best Product or Service.
Chris Simpson, director of business support at Wiltshire Business Support Service, said: “We’ve only a few weeks left so if you’re thinking of applying, please get in touch now. At WBSS, our aim is to provide a springboard for success for Wiltshire businesses. These awards are a great way of accomplishing just that.”
The Enterprising Wiltshire Awards 2015 culminate in a gala ceremony at Bowood House on 20 March, with judging taking place in February.
Last year, over 100 firms entered with John Williams Heating Services, the Chippenham-based plumbing and heating specialist, named Business of the Year 2014.
