Volvo S90 crowned Best Used Executive Car at Auto Express Used Car Awards

The Volvo S90 has been crowned the Best Used Executive Car at Auto Express Used Car Awards – for the third consecutive year.

It also scooped the overall bronze award, marking it out as the third-best used car of all on sale, according to Auto Express.

Judges were impressed by the S90’s “compelling combination of style, comfort and value”. In awarding it the overall bronze award, the judging panel said “the S90 is something of a phenomenon and feels a cut above its German rivals”.

Andy Dolan, Volvo Car UK’s national used car sales lead, said: “These awards are a great affirmation of the quality and value that Volvo models offer used car customers.”

The Skoda Karoq as Used Car of The Year. Judges praised the SUV for its “quality, practicality, value, low running costs and plenty of driving satisfaction.”

The silver award went to the C3 Aircross SUV “for its French flair, quirky styling, practical cabin, plus its comfort as well as overall value.”

Auto Express editor-in-chief Steve Fowler said: “Buying used has always been a great way to get more value from a car purchase. But now sought-after second-hand models have rocketed in price, it’s vital buyers do their homework and buy the very best car they can afford.”

Used cars are holding – and in some cases increasing – their value because of the shortage of new cars worldwide.

The problem has been caused by a global shortage of microchips.

In 2021 used car prices increased by 30 per cent, and while demand and high prices are starting to soften as new cars begin to reach the UK again post-covid.
