Peugeot launches 308 and 308 SW in UK

Peugeot has launched its new 308 and 308 SW in the UK.

The 308 was a finalist for the title European Car of the Year back in November and was named Women’s World Car of the Year 2022 in March.

Prices start at £25,270 for the 308 and £26,470 for the 308 SW – the station wagon version of the popular hatchback.

SW drivers get a longer rear end and longer wheelbase for extra interior space.

The new models are the latest to feature Peugeot’s new logo – a roaring lion’s head, which also neatly houses the radar sensors used by the autonomous driving aids.

Both models are launching as plug-in hybrids, with a 1.6 litre petrol engine and a battery that will get the car 37 miles – enough to get through a clean air zone and back the other way.

The 180 hybrid variant (148bhp petrol engine and 109bhp electric motor) is eligible for an eight per cent Benefit-in-Kind rate, making it ideal for fleet and business users.

The Hybrid 225 variant offers a 178bhp petrol engine with the same 109bhp, giving a 0-62mph speed of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 146mph.

A 1.2 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel are also available. Electric variants, promises the manufacturer, will follow in 2023.

Julie David, managing director of Peugeot UK, said: “The compact family car class remains one of the most important and competitive segments and is one where Peugeot excels.

“The new 308 and 308 SW offer buyers the possibility to choose the powertrain that best meets their needs, and represents another step in our commitment to offer an electrified variant across our entire model line-up by 2025.”
