Lotus reveals prices and release date for its new SUV
British sports car brand Lotus has revealed the prices, spec and release date for its first-ever SUV, the Eletre as it positions itself as a global performance car business and brand.
The Eletre is the marque’s second foray into electric cars, following the launch of the Evija hypercar.
There will be three versions of the Eletre: the standard model, the S, and the R. Prices will start at £89,500 with a choice of two powertrains – 450 kW / 603 hp on the standard and S models (£104,500), and 675 kW / 905 hp on the R (£120,000).
The former is provides enough power to take the Eletre from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds, while the latter will propel the Eletre from 0-60mph in 2.95 seconds and top out at 165mph – which could bag Lotus a world speed record for an electric SUV.
Eletre promises 373 miles from range from its 112kWh battery. The faster R comes at the expense of distance, with 304 miles of range.
Its 800V electrical system offers speedy 350kW charging, taking the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in less than 20 minutes.
Launching the Eletre, Lotus Cars MD Matt Windle said: “The launch of the Eletre is the natural next step for Lotus. Two-seater sports cars are not for everyone, and we want to offer a Lotus for every stage of your life. The Eletre is the start of that.”
