Citroën Ami Electric named Innovation of the Year in inaugural Move Electric Awards
Citroën Ami Electric has been named Innovation of the Year at the inaugural Move Electric Awards.
The Move Electric Awards 2022 in partnership with OVO Energy celebrate the machines, companies and individuals that are shaping the exciting new world of electric transportation, with Ami Electric recognised for its ground-breaking approach to the future of electrified personal mobility.
Launching imminently in the UK, Ami Electric – which will be available in passenger and commercial versions – is described as “a daring response to the challenges faced in today’s cities and urban environments.”
Citroën expects the commercial version to be popular with urban logistics firms fulfilling Last Mile Delivery from depot to doorstep.
Ami emits zero emissions in use and has a 5.5kWh battery that charges in just three hours.
With a range of 46 miles and a top speed of 28mph, Ami Electric, says Citroën, is a modern solution that delivers on the manufacturer’s promise to provide affordable and clean mobility solutions for all, as encapsulated brand’s new philosophy – Power to the People.
James Attwood, editor at Move Electric, said: “This particular award goes to the most innovative product or technology that has helped to shake up the electric mobility market in the UK this year.
“The Citroën Ami charms everyone with its ultra-cute design, but it’s also an incredibly clever and transformative machine.
“While there have been quadricycles before, Citroën has refined the design to create a product that has huge appeal for both people and businesses looking for affordable transport in urban areas – and beyond.
“The innovation extends to the Ami’s incredibly clever design elements, which help to make it more sustainable to produce and cost-effective to run.”
Eurig Druce, Citroën UK’s managing director, said: “With its UK launch now imminent, it’s fantastic that industry experts continue to recognise Ami for its unique approach to urban mobility.
“It is particularly pleasing to be recognised by a title like Move Electric that celebrates all forms of electric mobility – therefore demonstrating Ami’s widespread appeal.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the model on UK streets and for customers to experience it for the first time.”
In addition to the passenger version of Ami, Citroën will also offer the commercial vehicle variant in the UK – which is named Ami Cargo Electric.
With a payload of up to 140kg, a maximum load capacity of 400-litres and a tight 7.20m turning circle, Ami Cargo Electric is designed for last-mile delivery service providers and other business users operating in urban areas.
Ami Cargo Electric will launch in the UK this year, joining Citroën’s existing all-electric ë-LCV line-up.
The Move Electric Innovation of the Year accolade is the latest in a long list of awards for Ami Electric, which includes the 2021 Auto Express Technology Award, Microcar of the Year in the GQ Car Awards 2021 and the 2022 Innovation Award from DrivingElectric.
