‘Anyone’ or “Eeny One’? Honda gives launch date for its oddly-named e:Ny1 electric SUV

Honda has revealed the launch date and UK price of its new small SUV. But the manufacturer has offered no guidance on how to ask for one.

Whether customers will ask to test drive an Anyone or an Eeny One is, well, anyone’s guess.

What we do know is that order books for the e:Ny1 will open in October, with prices starting at £44,995 for the Elegance and £47,195 for the Advance. Deliveries are expected in January.

The small SUV is the brand’s latest pure electric vehicle for Europe and the first to be built on its all-new front-wheel-drive e:N Architecture F platform – which presumably means the Anyone will be followed by an Anytwo.

The platform incorporates a high-power motor and high-capacity battery, offering a 256 mile range – which might seem a bit low considering rivals like the Hyundai Kona electric claim a range of 319 miles, but it will suit most commuters.

The model comes with all the electronic comforts and driving aids you’d expect from a modern vehicle. But what Honda is keen to stress is its complimentary Five Year Care Package, which includes five years servicing, five years guarantee, and five years UK and European roadside assistance.

Rebecca Adamson, head of automobile at Honda UK, said (in a written statement, giving no clue as to how to pronounce it): “With the backdrop of 75 years of Honda engineering excellence and integrity, the all-new e:Ny1 delivers the performance, comfort and usability that Honda customers have come to expect, with the uniqueness of the EV powertrain.

“As Honda’s second fully electric vehicle, it has an important role in the brand’s electrification journey.

“With a compelling mix of attractive design inside and out, high specification levels, and strong and engaging dynamics, the e:Ny1 sets a high bar for future Honda models.”
