Good Energy tops Which? Eco Provider ranking for third year running
Renewable energy supplier Good Energy is joint highest scoring in this year’s Which? league table on the sustainability of energy suppliers, placing top for the third year running.
The pioneering Chippenaham company has been awarded the Eco Provider endorsement by the UK’s most popular consumer association since the scheme was first launched in 2021.
It recognises Good Energy’s commitment to providing truly green electricity to its customers, sourced from a network of more than 2,000 independent generators across the UK.
Which? gathered information on green claims from 17 energy companies, asking them about their practices in buying renewable electricity and green gas, among other things.
Good Energy was one of only two companies to achieve an overall score of 80 per cent, the best result.
It achieved the maximum points for transparency and clarity, for buying and selling renewable power, for low carbon technology installations and selling green gas, and Time of Use (TOU) and smart export tariffs.
Good Energy chief executive Nigel Pocklington said: “Which? is rightly recognised as the UK’s consumer champion, so it’s a great achievement to be joint top of this table – especially as we’ve maintained our position for the third year in a row.
“Customers want to know they’re purchasing their power from genuinely renewable sources, and avoiding companies which are suspected of greenwashing their environmental credentials.
“Homes and businesses can be sure we’re providing 100 per cent renewable electricity – sourced from solar farms, wind turbines, biogeneration and hydroelectric projects – and helping to power a cleaner and greener future.”
Good Energy’s ambition is to support one million homes and businesses to cut carbon from their energy and transport used by 2025, supported by its expansion into the provision of heat pumps and solar panels, and its investment in Zapmap.
