Swindon & Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership re-confirms commitment to Armed Forces Covenant

Swindon & Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership has re-confirmed its commitment to support members of the armed forces community by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

With approximately 30 per cent of its soldiers and staff located in Swindon and Wiltshire, the British Army and Ministry of Defence is one of the largest employers in the region.

SWLEP has pledged to support and recognise the value serving personnel, veterans and military families contribute to business in the Swindon and Wiltshire region and across the country.

At a ceremony following the Swindon & Wiltshire Cyber Cluster’s CyberICE 2.0 conference, SWLEP chair, Paul Moorby OBE, and Colonel Gary McDade, commander South West, re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

“The Armed Forces and in particular the Army have chosen Wiltshire as home for a significant number of serving personnel, their families and their supply chain,” said Paul.

“We value highly the presence and active participation of the military on our Board.

“We at SWLEP sign the covenant today in recognition of the contribution that the military makes to the vitality and success of Swindon and Wiltshire.

“We also recommit to tailor services specifically designed to assist personnel moving back into civilian life. That might be to continue their careers, market innovative ideas or launch their businesses anywhere in our region.”

Colonel McDade, said: “It is a great privilege to represent the Army and the Armed Forces community in signing this Armed Forces Covenant with Swindon & Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership.

“In signing, SWLEP is making an important visible commitment to supporting Service personnel, their families, and the veteran community.

“As a resident of Wiltshire myself, a county with such a large Army presence, I know that this support will be very welcome.”
