Women on Wednesday raise £500 for Samaritans Salisbury
A networking group for Salisbury businesswomen has celebrated its 10th anniversary by raising £500 for The Samaritans in the city.
Women on Wednesday was established in 2004 by former City Centre Manager Lindsey Brown and Salisbury Chamber of Trade.
Since 2011 the group has been run and managed by Lindsey, who has now established her own business, LBB Business Solutions, and Karen Janes of Natural Healing Energy.
Every two years WoW members nominate and then vote for a charity that is supported through the monthly raffle.
Bev de Cuevas, director of Salisbury Samaritans, said: “This is an amazing sum. With Salisbury branch needing to raise £25,550 (£70 per day) each year to remain open, and with no official funding, this donation is very significant.
“It will effectively keep the office open for two weeks in which time we will deal with, on average, 630 ‘significant’ calls where callers are experiencing distress and despair.”
Women on Wednesday meets every third Wednesday from noon at the White Hart Hotel. For more information log on to www.salisburywow.co.uk
