Thrings associate appointed co-chair of national family law committee

Swindon-headquartered law firm Thrings is helping to shape the future of junior practitioners in the family law sector with associate Zhenja Cann being appointed co-chair of the Young Resolution National Committee.

Founded in 1982, Resolution is a national organisation with members from across the family law sector that works towards delivering non-confrontational approaches to achieving better outcomes for separating families and their children.

As the network for family law professionals at the start of their careers, Young Resolution (YRes) gives its members access to expertise with peers and colleagues that benefits not only their firms but their clients across the country.

During her two-year appointment to the co-chair role, Zhenja will be responsible for guiding the national committee in its efforts to support young practitioners, making training and other resources more accessible and acting as a voice for YRes members to the wider Resolution organisation.

“Family law can be a complicated and emotionally intense area to practice, especially for those at the start of their legal careers and it is fantastic to have a team outside your own firm who understand the challenges being faced,” said Zhenja.

“I am honoured to have been appointed to jointly lead the YRes National Committee and look forward to working with the committee in making family law as inclusive and empowering a place to work as possible. Resolution has a strong record for positive change in the law and it is exciting to be playing a bigger role in that process.”

Matthew Kellow, Thrings’ head of family, said: “Zhenja is an outstanding family lawyer and I am delighted that her colleagues at Young Resolution have recognised this in electing her as their newest co-chair.

“This appointment is a testament to the dedication she shows to her clients and to the practice of family law on a daily basis and I am sure the committee will achieve some great things under her tenure.”
